Steel-Cut Oatmeal

Slow-simmered steel-cut oats with brown sugar, toasted pecans, and warm spiced apples.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup steel-cut oats
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 apples, diced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup toasted pecans

Method

  1. 1 Toast the oats in a dry pot for two minutes until they smell nutty.
  2. 2 Add water, milk, and salt and simmer 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. 3 Saute apples in butter with brown sugar until caramelized.
  4. 4 Top each bowl of oats with the apples, pecans, and an extra drizzle of cream.
